The sympathy phone calls and flowers have gradually lessened, the funeral is now over, and the influx of visitors have returned to their own homes. Life is going on for others, but it seems to have stopped for you.

You may be dealing with a death that you knew was coming (although you prayed and hoped that it wouldn’t), or your life might have been shattered by the sudden news of an untimely death. To top that off, the Covid19 pandemic may mean that you were unable to give your loved one the send off they deserved, or even that you are dealing with the knowledge that they died alone. You're on a relentless cycle of anger, guilt, regret and disbelief and this is leaving you exhausted, anxious and upset. 

You may be learning that just because you’ve lost the same person, doesn’t mean you are all feeling this loss in the same way. You might have feelings of resentment towards your partner for appearing to ‘move on’ too quickly. Your partner might resent you for not getting on with life.  These are just a tiny subsection of some of the emotions, thoughts and situations that you may be going through. 

We provide a safe space for you and your family to process the death of your loved one. You might want to attend your bereavement counselling as a family group, or as individuals, or as a combination of both: our initial assessment will help determine this. 

I gained a real interest in grief and bereavement counselling whilst providing grief therapy at a beautiful hospice in London. Like many people in this area, I did not go looking for this work; rather I can attest that it very much came looking for me through a series of personal losses. I have therefore learnt from my own grief, as well as that of the many families who have allowed me to journey with them through theirs.
