How we can help

Schools (One to one sessions)

Training: Identifying and working with relationship difficulties for frontline professionals

Training: Identifying and working with relationship difficulties for frontline professionals

Happy child

At Amani Family Services, our firm belief is that early intervention and prevention gives children the best chance.

We work with schools on a half day or full day basis to provide therapeutic services for children experiencing mild to moderate emotional wellbeing problems.

Since you know your pupils best, referrals will come from you. We will conduct an initial assessment with the identified pupil(s) and then determine whether to provide six sessions, twelve sessions, or ongoing sessions.

Where appropriate, we also make recommendations for family sessions, or sessions with parents

Couple with counsellor

Frontline practitioners such as social workers, GPs, health visitors and teachers are best poised to notice and address issues of relationship conflict in families. We know that early intervention is best, yet many practitioners feel ill equipped in approaching the subject of relationships with their clients, perhaps feeling it is not their role, or even not being sure how they might do this. This half day training will enable practitioners to gain the confidence, skill and resource they need to identify and work with relationship dynamics. Amongst other topics, we will cover:

  • Whose role is it anyway? Are we being too intrusive by asking about relationships?
  • How our personal stories impact our willingness to broach this subject
  • Myth busting- what does the research really say about parental conflict?
  • Practical ideas on how to have impactful and authentic conversations that gain our clients’ trust and help them open up to receiving the right help

Support group

Group sessions can be beneficial for children who are united by common experiences. Not only do they enable children to recognise that they are not alone, but they also learn how to be a resource to other group members, which helps build their confidence.

The following can be delivered as time limited groups, or as one off workshops in schools, youth clubs, or other settings:

  • Coping with the loss of a loved one
  • When parents do not get along
  • When parents separate
  • Coping with difficult emotions
  • Navigating relationships
